Prof. Dr. Hanna Hottenrott

Hanna Hottenrott is Professor for the Economics of Innovation at the School of Management of the Technical University Munich (TUM) and head of the department of “Economics of Innovation and Industrial dynamics” at the Leibniz-Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW).

Her research focuses on innovation policy and the dynamics of technological change. Her work focuses on analyses of innovation strategies, particularly the financing of R&D, and on innovation policy designed to support innovation activities in the private and public sectors. More recently, she studied government support policies for and the financing of start-ups.

Prior to joining TUM, she was an assistant professor at the Düsseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE). She holds a PhD from KU Leuven and a degree in economics from the University of Heidelberg.

Hanna Hottenrott is a Co-Speaker of the Cluster of Excellence Munich Centre for Transformative Technologies and Societal Change (TransforM). She is a member of several scientific advisory boards, including the Scientific Advisory Board of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. She is also a member of the German Science and Humanities Council (Wissenschaftsrat).
